The Hysham Echo Newspaper has been published since Nov. 28, 1911 for Treasure County, Montana.

The Echo has undergone many changes over the years and I was honored to be the editor at the time it turned 100.

Each week I will publish the recipes and Page from the Past and the obits as soon as I receive them.

The Military

The Coming of the Soldier to Montana Territory, and the Many Forts He Built on the Plains and in the Valleys

Just 59 years after its establishment as a military post with no visible reminder of its existence save a battered stone sun-dial base, the site of old Fort Ellis, near Bozeman, was commemorated on August 27, (1926), through the unveiling by Mount Hyalite Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, of a tablet wrought of native Montana copper and suitably inscribed.
