Alvin Leroy Maasch ~ January 29, 1938 - March 29, 2015

     Alvin Leroy Maasch, age 77, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his home in Miles City.

     Al was born in Hysham, Montana on January 29, 1938 to Walter and Annie (Bauer) Maasch.  He grew up and attended school in Hysham where he graduated from high school.  He started working at the age of 8 for the Hysham Echo.  Alvin excelled at his typing skills and could type 125 words a minute.  He bought his first typewriter at Sears.  He married Annalou Keyes in 1955 in Hysham at their family home.  They moved to Hardin for three years where he worked at the paper as well.  Afterwards they moved to Red Lodge where he worked for three years with the paper.  They then moved to Forsyth where they lived for one year before moving to Miles City where he worked at the Miles City Star for many years.

     Al enjoyed fishing, hunting agates, reading, bowling, deer hunting, embroidery, pitching horseshoes but most importantly he loved spending time with his family.  They had a great summer in Alaska and enjoyed every minute of it.  He was a lifetime member of the Eagles.

     Al is survived by his wife of 59 years Annalou Maasch of Miles City, MT; five children:  Belinda Cook of Alaska; Roxane Sturdevant of Miles City, MT; Brian (Michelle) Maasch of Chattaroy, WA; DeEtta (Scott) Walker of Colorado Springs, CO; and Gene Maasch of Miles City; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers:  Lyle Maasch of Hysham, MT and Duane Maasch of Santa Cruz, CA;.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Frank and Walt and a son-in-law Richard Cook.
