June 21, 1948 - February 19, 2014
John Roy Strecker, 65 of Bighorn, Montana moved to another field on Feb. 19, 2014.
He was born June 21, 1948 in Hardin, a son of Edward and Irene Relka Strecker. He grew up and received his education in Hardin, graduating in 1966. While in school, he actively participated in the wrestling program. He later attended Montana State University in Bozeman.
John married Cindy Cummings on May 4, 1974 in Hardin and the couple made their home in Bighorn. John was a hard working farmer, who raised beets and malt barley. He was a staunch supporter of Custer athletics, especially when watching his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Custer Congregational Church board, Sigma Chi and the JC’s.
His parents, granddaughter Morgan and mother-in-law Constance Cummings preceded John in death.
Survivors include his loving wife, Cindy; his daughter Kindra (JC) Hogenson; his sons Justin (Erika) and Chad (Emily) Strecker; his beloved grandchildren, Johnny, Hannah, Eleanor, Lillian, Nichole, Mikalyn, Logan, Harrison, Olivia and one on the way; his sister Judy (Duane) Schaak; and his brothers, Edward (Alyce), Jake and David (Kathy) Strecker; as well as nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
There were few things John enjoyed more than watching his kids and grandkids compete in athletics. In lieu of flowers, gifts, etc. please make denotations to Custer High School Athletic Department.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday in the Custer High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Custer Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary is assisting the family. Print this post
