Hysham Echo Newspaper

The Hysham Echo Newspaper has been published since Nov. 28, 1911 for Treasure County, Montana.

The Echo has undergone many changes over the years and I was honored to be the editor at the time it turned 100.

Each week I will publish the recipes and Page from the Past and the obits as soon as I receive them.

Terry Gene Marks ~ June 2, 1943 - June 28, 2012

Terry Gene Marks age 69 of St. George Utah. passed away on June 28, 2012 after a long and vigilant battle with colon cancer that spread to the liver. A devoted husband and father of ten, he left behind a legacy of Christlike love and service.

He was born in Terry, Montana on June 2, 1943 to Charles and Montana Mae Marks. Terry quickly became responsible for his mother and siblings when his father died when he was age ten. He grew up in Montana attending Hardin High School where he held the state heavyweight wrestling record for over 25 yeas. He went to Montana State University on a football scholarship and while there he converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He served as building mission in North Hollywood, California were he met his eternal companion Karan Simpson, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Simpson.

They were sealed three weeks after the release of his mission in the Los Angles Temple on January 26, 1966 where they began their lives dedicating all they had to raising a righteous family. A family that was his greatest joy and love. A love that extended to the many people he came in contact with daily as he greeted them during the holidays at DI as Santa or just happened to be lucky enough to sit by him. He was a true Utah jass and BYU fan and would talk to anyone about sports that didn’t mind listening. He traveled many hours and sometimes days to spend time with his grandchildren whom he loved and spent time with. A man of many traits and occupations, he worked several jobs throughout his life, the last of which was also his first. as a newspaper delivery man. He was a gentle man, loving father, husband, and grandfather who’s last advice to his posterity was, keep serving and loving people.

He is survived by his loving wife Karan Louise Marks of St George Utah, his ten children Mendy (David Stucki) St George.
