The Hysham Echo Newspaper has been published since Nov. 28, 1911 for Treasure County, Montana.

The Echo has undergone many changes over the years and I was honored to be the editor at the time it turned 100.

Each week I will publish the recipes and Page from the Past and the obits as soon as I receive them.

November 22, 1926 - June 9, 2012

Vivian Covarrubias, age 85, of Rosebud passed away on June 9, 2012 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.

Vivian was born on November 22, 1926, in Forsyth, MT. She was the daughter of James and Mary (Kabes) Martinek. She grew up and attended school in Forsyth, MT. On April 5, 1944 she married John Covarrubias. Since then she has lived in the Cartersville area, north of Rosebud. She was a 4-H leader for three years, a member of the Sandcreek Homemakers for twenty-one years and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Vivian is survived by three daughters: Anita (Sonny) Buckalew, Cheryl (Howard) Ruppel and Teresa (Kirk) Montgomery; one sister Ramona Johnson of Portland, Oregon; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers and nine sisters.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forsyth. Burial will follow in the Forsyth Cemetery.
