Hysham Echo Newspaper

The Hysham Echo Newspaper has been published since Nov. 28, 1911 for Treasure County, Montana.

The Echo has undergone many changes over the years and I was honored to be the editor at the time it turned 100.

Each week I will publish the recipes and Page from the Past and the obits as soon as I receive them.

PATRICIA ("PAT") MYSSE

Patricia "Pat" Elaine Mysse, age 86, of Forsyth, Montana, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Valley Health Care in Billings following complications from hip surgery. Pat was the only daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Huttleston) Clark born on October 27, 1923 in Billings, Montana.

At an early age her mother, Dorothy, died from Typhoid Fever and her father, Ralph, later remarried Bessie Fisk Clark. Bess accepted Ralph’s four children as though they were her own. Pat was raised and educated in Forsyth, Montana. Pat married Arne O. Mysse in Seattle, Washington on June 22, 1942. To this marriage three children were born, sons Arne Ralph and Robert James (BJ or Bob), and daughter Terry Ray.

In the early years of her marriage, Pat worked part-time for J.C. Penney’s in Billings. After all her children were born, she became a full-time homemaker. Her husband accepted a job at the bank in Hysham, Montana, in 1951 where the family resided until his death in 1967. With her children raised, Pat moved to Forsyth, Montana, and worked part-time until she accepted full-time employment at the Forsyth Senior Citizens Center as its Director where she was employed for 20 years.

She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting and playing cards with family and friends and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sporting events. She spent many hours in her later years visiting, going out to eat and playing cards with her cousin, Shirley Mouat.

Pat is survived by her brothers, Raymond (Betty) Clark and Robert (Jeanne) Clark, of Forsyth, Montana, her sons, Arne (Vikki) Mysse, Billings, Montana, and Robert (Maria) Mysse of Round Rock, Texas, her son-in-law, Larry Ferguson of Forsyth, grandchildren Cindra Rainbow, Patcee (Tommy) Becerra, Kristine (Darin) Purkett, Matthew (Cindy) Mysse, Brittney (Jeff) Nielsen, Sarah Mysse, Kusi Mysse, Qori Mysse and Oscar Ferguson, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pat was predeceased by her husband, mother, father, stepmother, brother and sister-in-law James and Ellen Clark, daughters Terry Ferguson and baby daughter Mysse and grandson Mark Mysse.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth, Montana with burial of ashes in the Forsyth Cemetery. The family would like it if you wore something blue as that was her favorite color and anything denim as she loved her denim jackets. Family suggests that Memorials be made to one’s choice.

Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth have been entrusted with these arrangements and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com. Print this post
