Hysham Echo Newspaper

The Hysham Echo Newspaper has been published since Nov. 28, 1911 for Treasure County, Montana.

The Echo has undergone many changes over the years and I was honored to be the editor at the time it turned 100.

Each week I will publish the recipes and Page from the Past and the obits as soon as I receive them.

Marvin Mouat

March 4, 1947
December 26, 2009

Marvin was born March 4, 1947 in Billings, Mt to Bill and Shirley Mouat. He was a fraternal twin to his brother Martin.

Marvin enjoyed a robust childhood, with many interests, in and outside of school. Marvin took an interest in politics at an early age and had the privilege of being able to attend many political party conventions with his grandfather, Senator Dave Manning. Throughout his mid and later teenage years his interests in science and technology grew. He attended the DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago for a brief time and programmed some of the first computers to arrive in the city of Billings. He also had a great interest in the outdoors. Outdoor activities included leading pack trips on horses into the mountains, wrangling horses at a ranch, and later, big game hunting and fishing. He was a self starter and independent, owning and running his own trucking business from his early 20's through his early 60's. Marvin made learning and knowledge a lifelong quest, never accepting the status quo or taking superficial information at face value.

He is survived by his three children, Thomas Dempsey, James Mouat and Christy Mouat, grandchild Kaylee Mouat, Mother Shirley Mouat, and brothers William and Martin Mouat. Print this post
