David William Mouat

David William Mouat, 67 died at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming on December 24, 2009. He was born October 13, 1942 to James and Helen Mouat. David was the youngest of four children, sisters Anne and Donna, and brother Bob. The simplicity of his birth in a small log cabin out in the middle of the prairie, delivered by his father, defined his life. Sadly, his mother passed away when he was only a few months old. But not long after, Arla, his stepmother, joined the family bringing with her brother Willard. Frank and Ellen were born thereafter, completing the family of nine.

Dave cherished his childhood along with the freedom of living on a ranch that allowed him to roam freely in the hills, and up and down the canals and ditches. He made friends with all the ant piles, turtles, and other wildlife that surrounded his world. He loved the two room school house he attended. His youth was the epitome of an era gone by, but one that made him the person he was. His family cherished the stories he told of his youth.

n 1966 David and Juanita were married. They were blessed with two daughters, Marnie, and Aeron. New stories were developed as Marnie and Aeron grew up, adding to the family legacy. Now Marnie, with her children Jordan, Dalton, and Cassidy and husband Dean along with Aeron, and her children Tucker, and Samadhi and husband Jeff, have added new chapters to stories told long ago. Each family is making life long memories and maintaining a history of life gone by. Dave had many passions, but the one he is probably best known for is playing the card game “Bridge”. Through this activity, lasting friendships were established. These valued friendships added even more chapters to his life story and defined him further as a person.

We will miss Dave, but his stories will always live with us and be shared with children, grandchildren, and anyone else that may want to listen. Dave loved the Worland Senior Citizens Center, because it fosters the activities he and others love.
